This Privacy Policy explains how ClassMitra (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the ClassMitra mobile apps, desktop apps (if any), website, and related services (“Services”).
Institutes/Schools: If you use ClassMitra through a tuition class, coaching institute, or school, the institute may decide what student data is entered and how it is used. In such cases, the institute typically acts as the data controller for student records, and ClassMitra acts as a data processor/service provider processing data on their behalf. Parents/students can also contact their institute for requests related to student records.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, secure, and improve our Services:
- Account & Contact Information: Name, phone number, email address, password, date of birth, gender, address.
- Institute/Class Information: Institute name, batches, schedules, fee structures, and related operational details.
- Student Records (entered by institutes/admins): Student name, guardian name, phone number, attendance, fee/payment status, dues, notes, and other records created inside the app.
- Purchase & Transaction Data: Purchase tokens/transaction IDs and purchase status to verify one-time purchases. We do not store full card/bank details (handled by the payment provider/app store).
- Usage & Device Data: App usage patterns, accessed features, device information (model, OS), app version, IP address (approximate), logs, and performance metrics.
- Support Communications: Information you send to customer support (including optional attachments/screenshots you choose to provide).
Sensitive data: Some information may be treated as sensitive under certain laws (for example, transaction-related records and information about minors/students). We only use such information to operate the Services and comply with legal requirements.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your ClassMitra account
- To provide tuition/class management features (attendance, batches, fees, reports)
- To generate reports, audit documents, and records you request
- To process and verify one-time purchases and manage plan access
- To provide customer support and respond to requests
- To maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and debug issues
- To improve app functionality, reliability, and user experience
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK - GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA/UK, we process personal data only when we have a lawful basis, such as:
- Contract: To provide the Services you request and manage your account.
- Legitimate Interests: To secure, maintain, and improve the Services (fraud prevention, analytics, performance).
- Consent (where required): For optional features where consent is needed (you can withdraw consent anytime).
- Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
4. Analytics, Push Notifications, and Service Providers
We use trusted service providers to help operate, improve, and secure ClassMitra. These providers may process limited information on our behalf under contractual protections and only for the purposes described in this policy.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): Helps us understand app usage (for example, which features are used) so we can improve performance and user experience. Firebase Analytics is used for product analytics and diagnostics, not for advertising.
- OneSignal (Push Notifications): Helps us send important service notifications (such as reminders and account-related alerts) when you enable notifications. OneSignal may process device push tokens and related technical identifiers needed to deliver notifications.
- Cloud Hosting & Storage: To host and store app data securely.
- Payments/App Stores: To complete purchases and verify transactions.
- Support Tools: To respond to your queries and provide assistance.
No ads / no advertising identifiers: ClassMitra does not display third‑party ads. We do not sell personal information, do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use advertising identifiers (such as AAID/IDFA) for ad targeting.
5. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including:
- Encryption in transit (and where appropriate, at rest)
- Access controls and authentication
- Monitoring and security updates
- Backups to support availability and recovery
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information only in these situations:
- Service Providers/Processors: To trusted vendors who help us run the Services (analytics, crash reporting, hosting, support), under agreements that limit use of data.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
- Protection & Safety: To protect rights, safety, and prevent fraud/abuse.
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly ask us to share.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
- Account and institute data is retained while your account remains active.
- Student/attendance/fee records are retained until deleted by the institute/admin or until the account is closed (unless we must retain certain records for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes).
- Backups may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live (for example, where our hosting/service providers operate). Where required (EEA/UK), we use appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections to support these transfers.
9. Children’s Privacy and Student Data
ClassMitra is primarily intended for tuition classes/coaching institutes/schools, staff, and parents/guardians. Student information may be entered by an institute/admin to manage attendance, fees, and academic records.
- Under 13 (US): We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child under 13 provided information directly to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
- EEA/UK Minors: Where consent is required, it must be provided by a parent/guardian in accordance with local age-of-consent rules.
- Parent/Guardian Requests: For student record requests, we may direct you to the institute that controls the records or coordinate with them to complete the request.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. If we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request deletion (subject to legal requirements and certain exceptions).
- Portability (EEA/UK): Request a portable copy of certain data.
- Objection/Restriction (EEA/UK): Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Analytics controls: You can control certain analytics/diagnostics via your device settings where available (for example, limiting app tracking/diagnostics). You can also contact us for assistance.

Sell/Share: We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
